Michigan People's Campaign, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to advocating for inclusive policies and equitable representation, proudly announces its endorsements of Mai Xiong for Michigan State House District 13 and Layla Taha for Michigan State House District 25 in the special primary election on Jan. 30.
Xiong, a passionate advocate for community empowerment and social justice, embodies the values and vision crucial for representing the diverse constituency of Warren in District 13. With a strong commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and addressing key issues affecting the region, Xiong's leadership is poised to bring positive change to the district.
Additionally, Taha brings a wealth of experience and a steadfast dedication to serving the people of District 25. Her commitment to advancing policies that prioritize the well-being and prosperity of Michigan residents aligns seamlessly with the mission of Michigan People's Campaign.
"We are thrilled to endorse Mai Xiong and Layla Taha in the upcoming primary,” Casey Copp, Michigan People's Campaign’s Statewide Field Director, said. “Their dedication to community-driven initiatives and advocacy for progressive policies resonates deeply with our organization's mission of fostering a fair and equitable society for all.”
“Our community is lacking real support,” Safia Fuqua, a Michigan People’s Campaign leader, said. “We need change, and these candidates are not only both qualified but from my heart, they are what the community needs, and it’s time for positive change.”
“We need to keep progressing at all levels of government.” Gary Ringer, a leader with Michigan People’s Campaign, said. “We’re seeing issues being addressed, such as social determinants of health and economic inequities. Both candidates can help us continue that forward trajectory to make impactful and equitable change.”
Michigan People's Campaign urges voters in State House Districts 13 and 25 to support these exceptional candidates during the January 30 Special Election Primary to bring about positive, impactful change in their communities.
